Many decorated re-useable canvas bags. Canvas bags are WAY better for the environment than plastic bags, or even paper bags.
Participants got a close-up look at our insect collection - featuring moths and butterflies (which had been collected long ago). The ENC does not condone or allow the collection of insects or any animal from the wild.
This young lady is having a great time potting up some locally native seed to grow at home. The plants will attract butterflies and birds to her yard! She'll be creating habitat.
This young man is pointing out some Monarch eggs on some native milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis) in the foyer of the butterfly house. Monarchs depend on native milkweed for their survival.
This young man is making some natural furniture polish out of oil and lemon juice (using recycled glass jars). I works great!
These kids are using recycled greeting cards and old magazines to make new, hand crafted greeting cards!
Our greeters encouraged guests to participate in the scavenger hunt. Winners received an organic cotton ENC bag, a locally native plant or a $50 gift certificate off of a program at the ENC!
